We’re super proud to announce that our Equality Team has been strengthened by the arrival of Helen Dolphin MBE (@MrsFlipper1001) as a Consultant Lawyer.
At the age of 22, Helen became contracted Meningitis and fell into a coma. When she woke some days later she found that both of her legs had been amputated above the knee. Shortly afterwards her hands were also amputated.
Ever since Helen has campaigned for accessible and inclusive opportunities and solutions for disabled people, having managed policy and campaigns at Disabled Motoring UK for some years, and sitting on the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC) at the Department for Transport. Helen regularly speaks at conferences and is a trusted media voice on disability issues.
Speaking of the appointment Chris Fry said, “I’ve known Helen for 10 years, and have always been impressed by her tenacity. I’ve worked with Helen in a variety of reasonable adjustments cases in the past and its an honour to now be working together to help deliver positive change for others.”
Helen has a number of specific interests including making transport more accessible, and tackling cases of stepped entrances to the High Street, and has already begun working on cases with the benefit of support from the Equality & Human Rights Commission.
